List Friday: 10 reasons why you love to live where you live

This is so easy!

  • I am an Idaho native and LOVE LOVE LOVE saying that! In fact, I can’t imagine having an Oregon or Washington or Texas or any other address.
  • The incredible, natural beauty of the place: wild rivers, skyscraping mountains, desert, ddddeeeeeep canyons, crazy rock formations, pine trees. (That’s actually 6 items, but I am on a roll).
  • Goofy, four season weather: swings in temperatures of 40-50 degrees in one day. Keeps you on your toes.
  • I am surrounded by friends and family. In that order.
  • Very little humidity.
  • Blue, blue, blue sky. I once lived on the east coast and some days you couldn’t tell iif there was a horizon/sky/sun because the haze and humidity were so bad. Yuk-o-rama.
  • My greatgrandparents homesteaded in north Idaho over 100 years ago…….I love that bit of history.
  • The Palouse Prairie. Until you’ve seen it, you haven’t lived. Amber waves of grain for miles and miles.
  • Payette Lake, Redfish Lake, Pend O’reille, Lake Coeur d’Alene, Priest Lake, the St. Joe, the Clearwater, and the Lochsa.
  • An independent “westering” can-do kind of spirit is part of Idaho. No whiners, thank you.

I have never been to Idaho, but I had good friends who went there to his parents’ lake cabin each summer. He passed away at a very young age and his wife buried his ashes under a tree at the lake. I can never hear the word, “Idaho” without thinking of Bill and Vickie. I’m sure it must be a most beautiful place.

My heart aches to read this.. I am a native Idahoan born in the old LDS hospital that no longer exists in IF.. I left IF to marry a Navy man and am so ready to get back home, to be where my family and friends live. We now live in gA and it is NOWHERE near as beautiful. THey say go to the North GA mountains and I laugh in their face, those are smaller than the foothills of Boise.. Thanks for giving me a smile and perfect picture in my head today..

North Idaho, huh, the home of the Gods! My brother and I, who grew up in Moscow, always talked about people in southern Idaho as those having small minds, like their small trees, i. e. the sagebrush! Ironically, I’ve lived inWeiser for 35 years and he’s been in Buhl for about the same time. Moscow, my dear ol’ Moscow! We have to make a pilgrimage every year to see the dogwoods in Lewiston–where did you grow up, missy?

I grew up in Cd’A, lived for a few years in Kellogg, and now live in the foothills of Mt. Spokane. I’ve always thought Idaho was beautiful, but then I think that of Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Iowa, etc. etc. etc. ! Fickle, I guess! :-)Enjoyed your blog.
